What is Kasi Raffle?

Kasi Raffle is a township innovation designed to fundraise for sustainable youth and community social development initiatives. These funds support beneficiary programs that keep township youth fully engaged — leaving no time to idle and fall victim to social ills such as teenage pregnancy, gangsterism, and drug and substance abuse. The programme equally supports community social development and community-defence programs that prioritise collaboration with law enforcement to combat crime.

An under-20, ward-based community soccer league in Soweto — each ward fields a team, with four tournaments a year.

An arts & culture programme that conscientises Soweto youth into responsible community members through the art of gwijo cultural songs.

Takes young addicts from the township into a twelve-month bootcamp where they are rehabilitated into sportsmen.

Mobilises young people aged 20–40 into formal security training to work with law enforcement against crime and protect the local township economy.

How it works

  1. 1Buy a R20 voucher at a participating spaza (06:00–18:00).
  2. 2Get your unique voucher by SMS.
  3. 3Each spaza draws one R1000 winner daily at 18:00.
  4. 4Winners collect their prize from the shop.

Every draw is provably fair — anyone can independently verify the winner.
